Pajama Day:
As a result of our student initiated shift in positive behavior reward systems,
the class is on track to earning an end-of-year pajama day (ask about the new
compliment jar). This will most likely happen on Wednesday, May 9 (they should
fill the jar by Tuesday at the latest - hint hint ). On this day, students are
encouraged to wear their favorite set of pajamas. Students may bring slippers
(to change into), but should come to school wearing athletic shoes (for recess
and P.E.). Students are also encouraged (but not required) to bring lunch school
on this day. We will eat lunch in the classroom. Make sure students pack their
favorite books and sleeping bags (bags not required. may be too much to carry.
especially if riding the bus).
Final Spelling Test:
Performance on last week's spelling test shows me that students need another
week to practice and master the rule (not adding this to the grade book). I will
add the rule to this Friday's test (sight words, not red). The combined test
will be the students' last.
End-of-Year Mathematics Assessment:
We will begin our end-of-year math assessment on Thursday, May 10. This
assessment covers skills that should have been mastered from units 1-9. Although
students have been practicing skills in class daily, they will not receive a
formal review (mock test) because this assessment will serve as a true
indicator of what concepts and skills students mastered (and committed to
memory) this year.
