High Touch High Tech: Our @School Field Trip

High Touch High Tech delivers quality science education and enrichment programs that ignite a child’s natural curiosity about science and helps to build problem-solving skills, self-esteem and the confidence to try something new. They strive to provide students with hands-on, age appropriate, real, relevant science and nature experiences. This week's field trip was aligned with our 1st grade curriculum standards (and our current IB Weather Unit. This experience will be long remembered by our students. Thanks again to Jennifer Schroeder for capturing this experience on film.

Junior Great Books: Our Shared Inquiry Discussion
Students are learning how to share opinions using supporting details from the text.

This week we read and discussed The Mouse and the Wizard.
Shared Inquiry is a discussion method, a teaching and learning environment, and a way for individuals to achieve a more thorough understanding of a text by discussing questions, responses, and insights with fellow readers. Shared Inquiry combines a sound theoretical base with proven strategies to engage all readers in higher-order thinking and collaborative problem solving. In Shared Inquiry, participants come together to help each other explore the meaning of a work of literature. Each participant brings a unique perspective that influences how he or she understands the work. Sharing their interpretations, participants gain new insights and deepen or even change their initial understanding.
