Vol. 1 Issue 8

Daily Sentence Editing provides students with an engaging way to practice mechanics and usage of language arts skills. We use daily editing to preview/introduce/reinforce key language arts skills, including:
  • capitalization
  • punctuation
  • spelling
  • language usage
After correcting sentences independently, students share corrections during whole-group discussion. Students must be detailed and specific about what mistakes they see and how to make corrections. For example, “The s in Sara needs to be capitalized because it’s a person’s name and it is the first letter in the sentence.”

Today we focused on capitalization (naming words), spelling, and punctuation.
